8A - Solving The Problem

During quarantine, I came to the realization that there is an opportunity in how we can find shows and movies to watch on platforms such as Netflix and Hulu. These platforms are constantly being updated, thus making it difficult to keep up with what is and isn't on these platforms. I propose a third-party app that tracks what shows and movies you've liked and disliked. It can be activated as an extension to the original app or as a stand-alone app. You can search for movies and shows that you have watched and rate them like you do with restaurants or any other attraction. Additionally, it will display what you have previously watched on Netflix or Hulu and allow you to rate them. Once it has enough information it will then yield results and suggestions on what you might like. Time and time again I go on Netflix and Hulu to only find myself back on social media because I could not find a show or movie from the plethora of options. The way the app will generate revenue will be through advertisement. Every once in a while you will get a 15-second ad just like you do for Spotify or YouTube, for a small fee then the ads would disappear for the lifetime of the app. The philosophy of the app will be in ease of use. We do not want to make the experience only that much more difficult for our customers. That is why in every suggestion it will have the link for each corresponding platform you want to watch it on. Ease of use will be why customers use this app.
