9A - Testing the Hypothesis

After conducting 5 interviews with some more coworkers I now know who does not fall within the boundary of my opportunity. Knowing this will allow me to fully take advantage of individuals who actually do fall within my boundary.

Who: Although these individuals share the same interest in watching shows and movies they don't rely on Netflix or Hulu for their content. These individuals rely on either cable t.v or website in which they can watch movies and show at no cost. These individuals would not benefit from a new algorithm because they just don't use the platforms we are targeting.

What: The opportunity I mentioned does will not have a true competitor, Netflix has a system for liking and disliking shows and movies you've watched but from experience, it is not all that effective. Just like Yelp does not really have a true competitor, besides actually searching up the restaurant or attractions there really is no other place to get reviews.

Why: There is no underlying issue other than the users outside of the boundary do not use the platforms we are trying to target.

Inside the Boundary
Outside the Boundary
Who is in: Individuals who use platforms such as Netflix and Hulu who have a hard time finding shows and movies to watch
Who is Not: Individuals who watch movies and shows on cable TV or websites that have the files for free
What the Need is: An algorithm within an app that yields suggestions based on what you’ve liked
What the Need is Not: A platform to stream shows and movies
Why the Need exists: Because of the number of shows and movies on these platforms and the fact that these platforms are continuously updating their selections making it hard to find shows and movies to watch
Alternate Explanations: Go with the crowd and watch what is trending or rely on friends to tell you what is good
